TIE high security modem (Model 848)

Installation

1. Obtain from the telephone company a voice grade dedicated telephone line. Signal levels will not exceed minus 6dbm.
2. Connect transmitter power, control and telephone terminals as shown. If polarity reversing control voltages are not available for terminals 1 and 2, the TIE transmitter can be controlled by pulling screw terminals 6 and 7 to minus (-) DC of the power supply voltage (terminal 7 for normal, terminal 6 for alarm). A jumper or a closing relay to minus (-) DC could be used or an opening relay from plus (+) voltage to the terminal with a 3K resistor to minus (-) DC. Terminal 6 (alarm with override terminal 7. Listen to the telephone line with the earphone to assure that the signal is present.
3. At the receiver location listen to the telephone line with an earphone to assure that the signal has traversed the telephone line.
4. Connect receiver power, telephone line and relays as shown. The relays are internally connected to the DC power and resistors as shown to provide a line reversal type of indication.
